About "The Art Laboratory"
The Art Laboratory is dedicated to promoting Project-Based Learning (PBL), encouraging children to learn through meaningful, hands-on creative projects. Throughout the learning journey, students are guided to explore, experiment, reflect and refine their ideas while completing their own unique artworks.
The programme places strong emphasis on student autonomy and creativity, allowing children to build confidence, develop critical thinking and strengthen problem-solving skills in an open-ended environment where there are no standard answers.
Course Highlights
This summer, children will embark on a creative journey into the fascinating world of Cyanotype and Kintsugi, discovering the beauty created through the combination of light, chemistry and traditional craftsmanship.
- Cyanotype – Learn the fascinating process of sun printing and the science behind photographic printing using sunlight.
- Kintsugi – Discover the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics, embracing the philosophy that imperfections can become something beautiful.
Through this four-session progressive programme, children will:
- Explore the connection between art and science.
- Learn about art history and various artistic techniques.
- Develop observation skills, curiosity and an experimental mindset.
- Enhance composition, aesthetic appreciation and creative expression.
- Complete their own unique artwork while building confidence and creativity.

Course Information:
Dates: 14, 21, 28 July & 4 August 2026 (Every Tuesday)
Time: 10:00 am – 11:15 am
Age: 6–12 years old
Course Fee: HK$1,680 (4 sessions)
Language: Cantonese and English
Group Size: 1 : 6 (Small Class Ratio, minimum 2 to start)
• Each class registration is limited to 1 child.
• Successful Payment & Class Registration cannot be changed or cancelled. Payment will not be refunded in any form.
• Please arrive at the venue 5 minutes prior to class start time for registration. All classes will start as scheduled. Participants who are late for the class will not be given any make-up class.
• The class cannot be exchanged for cash or used to redeem other products or services.
• If the class does not meet the minimum participant requirement, it will be cancelled. A refund will be processed, which may take up to 21 working days.
• The Art Laboratory and Hysan Marketing Services Limited reserve the right to end or extend the programme and/or to modify, revise or change any of these Terms and Conditions at any time, without any prior notice and without incurring any liability to any party whatsoever.
• Participants must take care and safeguard their personal belongings. The Art Laboratory and Hysan Marketing Services Limited shall not take any responsibility and shall not assume any liability, either directly or indirectly, for any loss, theft, damages, accidents, injury, death, special incidental or consequential damage that may be suffered by any guests or third parties arising from their presence at the venue.
· Event will be cancelled if any of the following signals is issued and still in force 3 hours before the activity is scheduled to begin: Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above; Black Rainstorm Warning Signal; or extreme conditions. All the affected events will be cancelled or subject to other arrangements as shall be notified by The Art Laboratory and Hysan Marketing Services Limited. The above arrangement is for reference only. In all cases, participants should consider the weather, road and transport situation to decide whether to attend the events. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather may be rescheduled within 14 days at Playdot, subject to availability. The Art Laboratory and Hysan Marketing Services Limited reserve the right to determine the topic of all make-up classes.
• The Art Laboratory and Hysan Marketing Services Limited reserve the right to make the final decision in the case of any dispute. In the case of any conflict or inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of these Terms and Conditions, the English version shall prevail.
