Creativity knows no time, regional, or geographical restrictions. Different people engage varying parts of the brain during the day, for instance, focused thinking in the morning for planning detailed proposals and diffuse thinking in the evening for creative excursions, or vice versa. There’s simply no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to creative thinking.

From 10 a.m., 12 August to 10 a.m., 13 August, the eslite bookstore (Causeway Bay) at Hysan Place is holding the “24x24 Art-athon: Celebrating 11 Years at Causeway Bay”, inviting merchants, guest speakers, and local units to collaborate on workshops, music performances, film screenings, and more. This artistic sensation will undoubtedly challenge your perception of a 24-hour bookstore and provide a diverse cultural experience.

Dubbed the "literary singer," Cath Wong will be participating in the event as a guest speaker. Having developed a keen interest since childhood, Cath creates songs that are closely intertwined with the literary world, drawing from the works of renowned writers, such as Haruki Murakami, as her musical inspirations.

【Drawing Inspiration from Everyday Life】

A wide range of sources in Cath’s everyday life light up her creative bulb, ranging from books, films, and dramas, to other musical creations, strolls along the street, and interactions with Mother Nature. All sorts of these sensory stimuli fuel Cath’s creativity, informing her down-to-earth musical creations.

【Immersed in Creation】

Many of Cath’s works, such as “Two Moons” and “July 24th Avenue,” are inspired by literary works. Through repeated readings of Haruki Murakami's “1Q84,” Cath pays specific attention to the different characters, the imagery, and the intended lessons and values in the book. This process not only allows Cath to broaden her perspectives and stimulate deeper thinking, but also to engage and connect all the senses. Instead of merely reading the story on the superficial level, Cath goes the extra mile by putting herself in the author’s creative shoes to gain a deeper sense of understanding, ultimately gaining inspiration for her own musical creations.

【Golden 24 Hours】

During the “24-hour Art-athon” at eslite bookstore (Causeway Bay), Hysan Place, Cath hopes to interact with people from all walks of life through various reading clubs and book discussions. Personal backgrounds, preferences, and viewpoints – these all influence each of our understanding of the book’s plot and the author’s message. Engaging in discussions in reading clubs, exchanging views and insights, and understanding different interpretative approaches are great ways to stimulate further contemplation.
